“Work is important to help us achieve our goals and objectives in life, our dignity, happiness and well-being. This should be part of our promise.
The world of work is changing and employers are looking for the right skills, attitudes and behaviors to succeed in the workplace. We want young people to develop the skills they need in the world of work. We all know that creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, communication, learning, and group thinking are the keys to success in school, work, and life. This ability is at the heart of art!
These skills are regularly cited by employers in the industry when hiring job seekers, and our ability to think critically, communicate clearly, and solve complex problems takes precedence over our abilities. Employers are also looking for other "soft" candidates such as B. Adaptability, decision making and good teamwork skills. These desirable skills are certainly compatible with what humans are good at, but machines and technology still struggle with them.
All this suggests that our education system should focus not only on how people use technology, but also on how to do things that technology does not do. It is important to develop these skills in young people, but we know what works and recent research in education and employer participation shows:
- Do more... the better!
- Do many different things… business consulting, training, negotiations with employers, site visits, company tests, internships, project work, team building, etc.
- Start young... the younger the better!
- Be persistent... "Young people don't know what they don't know"!
- Be professional...Quality matters!
- Ask students what they think!
